I am writing on behalf of Freedom High School to invite my fellow students and the Tampa community to participate in our student-led “I Feel the Need to Read” Literacy Festival.

The purpose of the festival is to promote literacy by engaging 250 students at Title I elementary schools in reading and learning activities and encouraging community members to get involved with literacy issues.

The festival will serve as a component of the Worst to First movement and will be correlated with the National Education Association’s Read Across America; thus, it will be held in March, the month of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday.

The project will include a family and community awareness night (March 2nd) and a children’s literacy festival (March 19th) to be held at our school.
